I had a horrible experience recently involving @bbcthree. I participated in what I thought was going to be an informative and empowering documentary about asexuality and asexual people, which is what the world needs to see. BBC3 attended the conference I was speaking at, interviewed me and various others, and filmed a day characterised by diverse experiences of trial and triumph. Then BBC3 decided to air a narrow portrayal of asexual people that was negative, patronising, exclusionary, whitewashed, and executed in a heavy-handed, inappropriate way. How do you manage to erase someone's identity when they're sitting right in front of you? I don't feel represented by a 'documentary' I'm actually in. The risk that could come with calling out the BBC and potentially alienating myself from the ace community almost stopped me from saying anything.
