The President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, supported the continuity of the Minister of Public Education, Edgar Mora, despite the demonstrations that have led students from 80 schools in the country against the management of the hierarch.
"Don Edgar today is a member of the Executive Branch. We have to keep working. I have to talk to him about what has happened in the sector and how we project what is coming. Today for me, the most important thing has to do with transferring trust. We need to generate social peace," Alvarado said.
The president took the opportunity to denounce that during the last days there has been a mass of false news that has encouraged the demonstrations of the different sectors.
" I make a respectful call in terms of information and the way in which they inform themselves, inform us well because in the last few days there has been a mass of disinformation or false information that does not help in that democratic and peaceful construction," the president said.
For example, Alvarado denied that there is a directive to celebrate International Gay Pride Day in schools, this Friday, June 28, as alleged by students who have come out to protest.
"Many of the concerns that they express and that are seen in the demonstrations of young people -valids- are based on things that do not correspond with or that we are not doing. For example, when the issue of concern about the issue of bathrooms is expressed: there is no guideline to do that, that is not in the interest of this government of this president, of this government, "said the president.
The theme of the bathrooms refers to a Protocol for the Attention of Bullying against the LGTBI Population in schools and colleges, which includes the possibility that the trans population uses a sanitary service according to the gender with which it is identified.
Although the president pointed out that there is a disinformation campaign behind the motives that triggered the demonstrations, he did not identify who are the culprits of that "campaign", as the Minister of Education did this afternoon at a press conference.

El presidente de la República, Carlos Alvarado, respaldó la continuidad del ministro de Educación Pública, Edgar Mora, a pesar de las manifestaciones que han protagonizado estudiantes de 80 centros educativos del país en contra de la gestión del jerarca.
Durante la atención semana a la prensa, el mandatario dijo que él decidirá “hasta cuando interrumpe esa confianza”.
“Don Edgar hoy es miembro del Poder Ejecutivo. Tenemos que seguir trabajando. Yo tengo que conversar con él sobre lo que ha acontecido en el sector y cómo proyectamos lo que viene. Hoy para mí lo más importante tiene que ver con trasladar confianza. Necesitamos generar paz social”, expresó Alvarado.
El presidente aprovechó para denunciar que durante los últimos días ha habido un cúmulo de noticias falsas que han alentado las manifestaciones de los distintos sectores.
“Hago un llamado respetuoso en materia de información y la manera en cómo se informan, informarnos bien porque en los últimos días ha circulado un cúmulo de desinformación o información falsa que no ayuda en esa construcción democrática y de paz”, mencionó el mandatario.
Por ejemplo, Alvarado desmintió que exista una directriz para celebrar el día Internacional del Orgullo Gay en los centros educativos, este viernes 28 de junio, tal y como alegan los estudiantes que han salido a protestar.
“Muchas de las preocupaciones que externan y que se ven en las manifestaciones de los jóvenes -válidas- están basadas sobre cosas que no corresponden con o que no estamos haciendo. Por ejemplo, cuando se expresa el tema de la preocupación por el asunto de los baños: no hay una directriz para hacer eso, eso no está en el interés de este gobierno de este presidente, de este gobierno”, indicó el presidente.
El tema de los baños hace referencia a un Protocolo para la Atención del Bullying contra la Población LGTBI en escuelas y colegios, el cual incluye la posibilidad de que la población trans use un servicio sanitario según el género con el que se identifique. Read more iva Semanario Universidad
