Marriage for all: After the President of the Protestant Confederation of Churches, the President of the Zurich Cantonal Church is also in favor of an opening.

The churches are struggling for a statement on the bill, which wants to open the marriage for same-sex couples. Of the parties, only the SVP opposes this liberalization, the others are in favor. The Catholic Church, or rather the Episcopal Conference, is skeptical of same-sex marriage, but refrained from deciding to use an official no-slogan - because civil marriage is outside the jurisdiction of the Catholic Church.

But now a prominent Catholic prows. Franziska Driessen-Reding is Synodalratspräsidentin the Catholic Church in the canton of Zurich. Ehe für alle: Nach dem Präsidenten des Evangelischen Kirchenbundes spricht sich auch die Präsidentin der Zürcher Kantonalkirche für eine Öffnung aus.

Die Kirchen ringen um eine Stellungnahme zur Gesetzesvorlage, welche die Ehe für gleichgeschlechtliche Paare öffnen will. Von den Parteien stellt sich einzig die SVP gegen diese Liberalisierung, die anderen sind dafür. Die katholische Kirche, genauer die Bischofskonferenz, ist skeptisch gegenüber der gleichgeschlechtlichen Ehe, hat aber davon abgesehen, eine offizielle Nein-Parole zu beschliessen – weil die zivilrechtliche Ehe nicht in den Zuständigkeitsbereich der katholischen Kirche falle.
