Italy: Fico announces: "The Zan law will be voted on from Tuesday"

"Many have written to me on the subject, and I take this opportunity to answer you: the Zan bill will be voted on in the House next week, starting from Tuesday afternoon". This was announced on Facebook by the President of the Chamber, Roberto Fico . This week, due to the coronavirus emergency and after the numerous cases of positivity to the swabs of the majority and opposition deputies, Fico decided to suspend the voting and only the question times of the ministers and the information on the measures were held in the Chamber anti-Covid by the president of the Consiglio Giuseppe Conte.

However, the president of Montecitorio has decided that voting on the Zan law on homotransphobia will begin on Tuesday. On the one hand, the bill extends the offenses envisaged by articles 604 bis and ter of the criminal code (Reale-Mancino law against hate crimes against race, ethnicity, nationality and religion) to crimes related to sex, gender, orientation sexual and gender identity. On the other hand, it establishes and organizes the activities of anti-discrimination centers and shelters to welcome and protect the victims of homotransphobic violence and discrimination.
