Global Equality Caucus: International LGBT+ rights conference postponed

We have been planning an international LGBT+ rights conference with the UK Government and had intended to hold it in May this year.

Safe To Be Me: A Global Equality Conference will bring together experts, policymakers, elected officials, businesses and civil society from across the globe to come together and build a safer world for LGBT people.

Due to efforts to mitigate the global spread of the COVID-19 virus, the International Conference Steering Board (of which the Global Equality Caucus is a member) has decided to postpone the conference. New dates will be announced in due course.

This decision has not been taken lightly. While we are all agreed on the importance of this event, the safety and health of our delegates must come first. We are not cancelling the conference and we are continuing to plan a full three-day programme to ensure the high level of ambition for the event is realised.

The Global Equality Caucus still intends to hold a summit for parliamentarians and elected representatives during the conference and will be integrating its members into other conference events.

Initial invites are due to be sent once we have confirmed the new date with the UK Government. If you have any questions in the meantime, contact either Alan Wardle at director@equalitycaucus.org or Andrew Slinn at communications@equalitycaucus.org.

We hope you are keeping well in these difficult times. We will be in touch soon as the situation develops.
