Poland: Most Poles reject the story of the dangerous LGBT ideology

by ANTON AMBROZIAK

In the latest IPSOS survey for OKO.press, we checked the attitude of Poles to the "LGBT ideology". President Andrzej Duda reached for this homophobic figure in the election campaign. He threatened that it threatens the family and Christian foundations of the Polish state.

At one of the election rallies, he stated that "LGBT is not people, it's ideology." And his staff member, MP Przemysław Czarnek, went even further, recognizing that "they are not people equal to normal people." What do Poles say?

We asked the question in two variants. One, with emphasis that the author of the homophobic cluster is Andrzej Duda. The second, with a bare statement: "Do you agree with the opinion that LGBT is a dangerous ideology against which Poland must be defended?"

The way the question was asked did not change the answers. And this means that the "LGBT ideology" has permanently entered the consciousness of Poles. The fact that adding President Andrzej Duda as the source of the quote does not increase the belief that it is apt also clearly suggests that the president is not an authority per se.

The differences, due to the size of the sample, are within the statistical error, therefore in the analysis of detailed data we will use the results from the question in which we directly quote the words of Andrzej Duda.

As you can see, 38 percent are generally convinced of the concept of "LGBT ideology". Polish women and Poles. Disagrees - 53 percent . But the details break up this picture. Only every fifth twenty-year-old thinks LGBT is a dangerous ideology. As many as 67 percent disagree with this statement. people aged 18-29. The proportions are reversed after the age of 50. Among the 60-year-olds attached to the "traditional family" pattern, over half of the respondents are already convinced that it is necessary to defend Poland against foreign ideology.

Much more resistant to homophobia, as other OKO.press surveys have shown, are women, especially young. In the 18-39 age group only 14% believes that LGBT is an ideology.

Their peers are divided: 41 percent agrees with President Andrzej Duda, and 46 percent has a different opinion. OKO.press polls show that young men are most often scared and prone to romance with the far right. The distribution of votes in this question, compared to previous polls, can therefore be read quite optimistically.

The rhetoric of the staff of Andrzej Duda is the most saturated with rural inhabitants (54 percent to 36 percent), the least - inhabitants of the largest cities (22 percent to 73 percent).

PiS voters succumb to Duda's homophobia

So why is so convinced that LGBT is an ideology to be feared? It is a direct derivative of party preferences. 88 percent agree with the words of Andrzej Duda PiS voters, including 72 percent chose the "definitely" option. 43% are also homophobic Confederate voters (47 percent disagree) and 19 percent PSL and Kukiz '15 electorate (up to 71 percent on it).

The voters of the Left and Civic Coalition do not imbibe the narrative of "LGBT ideology." Read more via Oko Press
