A Neil Young tribute band walked out of an East Providence pub on Friday after the owner allegedly kicked out a transgender patron who was dressed in woman’s clothing.
Mike Gendron, a singer for the band Young Rust, said in a Facebook message Monday that the group left the stage after patron Amber Lynne was asked to leave by Tommy Cummings, the owner of Mulhearn’s Pub on North Broadway.
Cummings denies that his actions were motivated by gender discrimination, but Lynne tells a different story. Lynne, who posted her story on Facebook, said she walked into the pub Friday night to hear one of her favorite bands.
Lynne said she was “dressed as a girl,” and wearing a skirt, a wig and lipstick. When she began dancing, Lynne said Cummings approached her and said, “You’re making people uncomfortable.”
