The police said the raid was conducted after a following a tip off from members of the public over homosexual activities in the area.
Police in Mombasa on Saturday raided a non-governmental organization protecting sexual minorities at the Coast and arrested two of its staff.
Police said they received information, the group was allegedly recruiting youth in the area to join the gay community.
“We received report they are recruiting youth to join the community,” said a police source at Makupa Police Station where they were held for more than four hours while being interrogated.
HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVITIES
The police said the raid was conducted after a following a tip off from members of the public over homosexual activities in the area.
But police sources say they got information from members of the public that the NGO is recruiting youth to join the gay community.
“We received complaints from members of the public about the activities of the organization. We raided and nabbed some of its staff for questioning,” said the police.
