De aprobarse, la norma permitirá a las personas cambiar el nombre y el género en el documento según su identidad autopercibida, tal como se sancionó en Argentina en el 2012.
La comisión mixta del Parlamento chileno despachó recién el 6 de agosto pasado el proyecto definitivo para que fuera votado por ambas cámaras. Después de meses de discusión, aprobó el 19 de junio incorporar a niños y niñas menores de 14 años. No obstante, se votará por separado garantizar el derecho a personas de todas las edades y a mayores de 14 para evitar el rechazo de todos los menores de 18, según consigna la Agencia Presentes.
Sobre este punto, el asesor jurídico de la Asociación Organizando Trans Diversidades (OTD) de Chile, Matías Valenzuela Cortez, señaló: "El 80,7% de las personas trans se reconoce como tal antes de los 11 años: ¿Por qué esperar hasta los 14?". Read more via Infonews

The mixed commission of the Chilean Parliament just released the final draft on August 6 to be voted on by both houses. After months of discussion, it approved on June 19 to incorporate children under 14 years of age. However, it will be voted separately to guarantee the right to people of all ages and over 14 to avoid the rejection of all children under 18 , according to the Agency Presentes.
