Jamaica: J-FLAG To Determine Impact Of Fire On Its Operations

Lobby group J-FLAG says it is uncertain about how it will continue its operations following a fire that destroyed its offices in St Andrew on Sunday night.

In a social media post, the human rights group said, "We will be providing an update when further details become available and how we foresee this impacting our programmes as well as to advise on the kind of support we will require to continue our operations."

It noted that the fire destroyed files, computers and other equipment.

The fire department today told The Gleaner that it received a call at about 9:45 last night after which a unit from the Half Way Tree Fire Station was dispatched.

A unit from the York Park Fire Station was subsequently sent to help extinguish the blaze.

The building was destroyed.

Meanwhile, the lobby group expressed gratitude to the fire department and the police for their response to the fire.  Read more via Jamaica Gleaner
