L’Union démocratique fédérale (UDF) lance un référendum contre l'article du Code pénal qui condamnera l’homophobie. Le conseiller national valaisan Mathias Reynard, à l’origine du projet de pénalisation, réagit.

«Je ne suis pas étonné que des personnes lancent un référendum. Car la modification du Code pénal qui condamnera désormais l’homophobie en Suisse représente une avancée importante. Et, souvent, quand il y a une avancée importante, il y a référendum», lance d’emblée Mathias Reynard. Il réagit ainsi au lancement d’un référendum de l’Union démocratique fédérale (UDF) contre la pénalisation de l’homophobie, une mesure dont le conseiller national valaisan est à l’origine.

Mathias Reynard se bat depuis 2013 pour pénaliser l’homophobie. La modification du Code pénal a été finalisée par les chambres fédérales à la fin 2018. Elle déplaît cependant à l’UDF qui tente de récolter 50’000 signatures d’ici le 7 avril pour contrer cette mesure. Homophobia: a referendum is launched against the law of Mathias Reynard

The Federal Democratic Union (UDF) is launching a referendum against the article of the Penal Code which will condemn homophobia. The Valais national councilor Mathias Reynard, who initiated the penalization project, reacts.

"I'm not surprised people are launching a referendum. The amendment of the Penal Code, which will now condemn homophobia in Switzerland, represents an important step forward. And, often, when there is an important advance, there is a referendum, "said Mathias Reynard. It reacts to the launch of a referendum of the Federal Democratic Union (UDF) against the criminalization of homophobia, a measure of which the national councilor Valais is at the origin.

Mathias Reynard has been fighting since 2013 to penalize homophobia. The amendment of the Penal Code was finalized by the federal chambers at the end of 2018. However, it displeases the UDF, which is trying to collect 50,000 signatures by 7 April to counter this measure. Representatives of the right-wing party believe that this affects freedom of expression.
