The Judiciary ordered the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) to register and recognize - prior administrative procedure - equal marriage between Peruvian citizens of initials AAMS and DAUF, which was celebrated in the United States.

Through a ruling in the first instance to which El Comercio agreed , the Sixth Constitutional Court of the Superior Court of Lima founded - in part - the lawsuit filed by both young people, so that their marriage can be registered under Peruvian law. They were married in New York on April 1, 2015, after having had a three-year relationship.

"We are too happy to feel that this is progressing and evolving, and that we are not mistaken in trusting in the justice of our country and in a more inclusive world," AAMS told this newspaper.

Poder Judicial ordena al Reniec registrar matrimonio igualitario celebrado en EE.UU

El Poder Judicial ordenó al Registro Nacional de Identificación y Estado Civil (Reniec) que inscriba y reconozca –previo trámite administrativo– el matrimonio igualitario entre los ciudadanos peruanos de iniciales A.A.M.S. y D.A.U.F., el cual fue celebrado en Estados Unidos.

A través de un fallo en primera instancia al cual accedió El Comercio, el Sexto Juzgado Constitucional de la Corte Superior de Lima declaró fundada –en parte– la demanda presentada por ambos jóvenes, a fin de que se registre bajo la legislación peruana su matrimonio. Ellos se casaron en Nueva York el 1 de abril del 2015, luego de haber sostenido una relación de tres años.

"Estamos demasiado felices de sentir que esto avanza y evoluciona, y que no nos equivocamos al confiar en la justicia de nuestro país y en un mundo más inclusivo", dijo A.A.M.S a este Diario. Read more via El Comercio
