LGBT activists are preparing to protest outside a church that was secretly recorded advocating for gay-cure therapy.
A shocking undercover investigation revealed that the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry church, in Liverpool, is claiming to be able to ‘cure’ homosexuality by starvation. The assistant pastor of the Liverpool church was recorded recommending an undercover reporter starve himself for three days to become heterosexual.
The head of the church was later revealed to be a brain surgeon working on the NHS, who could face a General Medical Council investigation. Now the University of Liverpool’s Amnesty International society is holding a protest outside the church.
Joe Ferguson, LGBT+ officer for the group, told the Liverpool Echo: “I came to Liverpool as a doe-eyed 18-year-old student and it’s the city where I became an adult.
“I owe a lot to the city and I was just absolutely shocked to read what I read in the ECHO, happening just 20 minutes from where I live. We have a prevalent LGBT community at our university and we want a show of strength to show that we won’t stand for this hatefulness, and we won’t stand for what is frankly a dangerous therapy."
