Ds. René de Reuver, scriba generale synode, betreurt de naar Nederland overgewaaide Nashville-verklaring.

De Nashville-verklaring is theologisch eenzijdig en gesloten en pastoraal onverantwoord. Ze is daarom niet dienstbaar aan het gesprek in gemeenten over gender, seksualiteit en zegen.

Dit gesprek is sowieso niet gediend met verklaringen en statements over en weer, maar komt alleen verder als het op een veilige manier gevoerd wordt op de plek waar het thuishoort, namelijk in de gemeente. Het kan alleen in een open houding waarin ruimte is voor ieder om zich uit te spreken en gehoord te worden.

Nashville statement is pastoral irresponsible

The Nashville statement is theologically one-sided and closed and pastoral irresponsible. She is therefore not available to the conversation in churches about gender, sexuality and blessing.

This conversation is in any case not served with statements and statements back and forth, but only continues if it is safely conducted in the place where it belongs, namely in the municipality. It is only possible in an open attitude in which there is room for everyone to speak out and be heard.
