France: "Let's not hide trans people again!" Activists sign platform

After the National Assembly, it is the Senate's turn to examine the bioethics bill, article 1 of which opens the PMA to "all" women. But not to trans people like Komitid pointed out in this article .

In Liberation, eleven associations defending trans people, including Acthé, Beyond Gender, Giaps, Inter-LGBT or OuTrans and TransMissionReims.com sign a forum entitled: "  Medically assisted  procreation and parentage: the law must include trans people ” . We can read in particular: “A civil status man may have a uterus, ovaries, and be able to carry a pregnancy to term; in the same way, a woman in the civil status can have a penis and produce sperm. Some trans people can therefore conceive children without the help of medicine. "

Supported by eight other associations (including Amnesty International, the APGL), GayLib and SOS homophobia, this forum protests against a law deemed "discriminatory" and demands that the PMA be open to trans people. It concludes as follows: "Such an opening would lead to changes in the law of filiation to take into account the family rights of trans people who already have, let us remember, children without any recourse to medicine and who remain largely forgotten of the bioethics bill. " Read more via Komitid
