Every year Mumbai holds the Pride Parade where members from the LGBTQIA+ community and organisations along with their allies assemble in celebration and to commemorate the queer history.
However, this year the Mumbai Police denied permission for holding Queer Azaadi Mumbai Pride 2020 at August Kranti Maidaan.
The information was shared on Twitter from the handles of Queer Azaadi Mumbai (Mumbai Pride) and LGBTQ activist Harish Iyer too. Both the Twitter handles put up the picture of the notice that was issued by the Mumbai Police.
According to the notice, Harish Iyer and Humsafar Trust had requested the Mumbai Police to allow them to hold the march, which has been happening in the city annually since 2008. However, the police cited that since the rally will also talk about the government and CAA and NRC, therefore the permission was declined. Read more via India Today
