Ghana: POSTPONEMENT OF THE 5TH REGIONAL CONFERENCE 2020

In support of World Health Organisation’s efforts to inform and help communities slow the spread of COVID-19 virus, Pan Africa ILGA will be postponing its 5th Regional Conference which was scheduled to be held in Accra, Ghana, from 27 to 31 July 2020, tentatively to the last quarter of 2020.

We believe that by reducing large gatherings we can contribute to flattening the curve of any possible outbreaks and manage it more effectively within our communities. What we know about the pandemic is gathered on a day to day basis. Current reports indicate that Western Europe is a hotspot, after China and South Korea. We have also all seen increasing entry and transit restrictions in a plethora of countries, heavily restricting global travel.

As the conference requires extensive travel from delegates and participants from the above regions and other parts of the globe, Pan Africa ILGA believes that postponement is the most responsible approach. We will keep all stakeholders updated as this process unfolds.
