In line with the Conferenza Episcopale Italiana (Conference of Italian Bishops) press release, which highlights the liberticidal drift of the Zan bill, moreover considered by the episcopal conference an unnecessary law, which would sanction opinions rather than discrimination, even Monsignor Crepaldi, current archbishop of Trieste, has wanted to express his serious concern about the possible approval of the law in question, through a press release published on the official website of the Diocese of Trieste.
In writing, Monsignor Crepaldi, in recalling the dramatic effects of the danger of the pandemic, just passed, mentions another danger currently in progress: precisely the approval of the law against homotransphobia which, as he recalls, has met with disapproval and condemnation from part of the CEI. Specifically, Crepaldi said:
"I wish to express all my concern regarding the bill to contrast homophobia and transphobia, strongly criticized by the CEI in a timely and clear manner, but also by others among whom are known feminists, because it is a legislative initiative that puts freedom of expression at risk. In the name of some ideas it is believed to criminalize different ideas. If you allow yourself the possibility to censure legally and criminally not of the offenses, but simply of the opinions and truths of an anthropological and moral order different from those of the proponents of the Bill, such as for example the difference between man and woman, then truly ours freedom - that of everyone, not only that of Catholics - is in danger. It is a pretentious design that must be strongly opposed. "
In short, the Church has expressed itself clearly in these days and also in response to these clear judgments , we are witnessing a general mobilization of Catholics and non-Catholics, who are taking the field to defend, as long as possible, their right to say the on matters that concern the very essence of the human being and above all to defend their sacred right to educate their children as they see fit, without the State, through a legislative decree, entering into their consciences and putting their hands on their young minds .
