On the occasion of this year’s Intersex Awareness Day, IGLYO is proud to launch “Supporting your intersex child”, a toolkit for parents, carers, relatives and siblings of intersex children, written in collaboration with OII Europe and the European Parents’ Association (EPA).
Anna Robinson, IGLYO’s co-chair, highlighted that “the intersex community is still one of least visible groups, both outside and within the LGBTQI community. With this toolkit we wanted to contribute filling an essential information gap that exists right from birth, providing parents with a set of practical tools.”
IGLYO Executive Coordinator, Euan Platt, added that “a large proportion of human right violations against intersex people happen during infancy and childhood. Sadly this is the result of parents and carers not having access to adequate information. IGLYO is, therefore, delighted to have partnered with OII Europe and EPA to create a toolkit to provide essential guidance to ensure intersex babies, children and youth receive the support and protections they need.”
The toolkit, now available in 6 languages, aims to introduce the topic, give advice on how to best support your intersex child, and where to get further information.
