Religion at school, attitudes towards LGBT people, cases of pedophilia in the Polish Church, the COVID-19 crisis, firm opposition to domestic violence - these were some of the topics discussed at the 386th Plenary Meeting of the Polish Episcopal Conference. After the meeting, the bishops issued an announcement.
On Saturday, the 386th Plenary Meeting of the Polish Episcopal Conference ended in Jasna Góra. It raised the issues of teaching religion at school or the LGBT + community, as well as cases of pedophilia in the Polish Church. After the first day of the episcopal meeting, much controversy aroused the position on the "LGBT + movement" . Although it was emphasized that "any acts of physical or verbal violence, all forms of hooligan behavior and aggression towards LGBT + persons are unacceptable", there was also an idea to create counseling centers to help return to heterosexuality.
On Saturday, the representatives of KEP referred to Friday's position. Bishop Józef Wróbel, chairman of the KEP team of experts on bioethics, said that this position applies to people who "want to meet such a spiritual father" and talk about their problems.
- The majority of people associated with homosexuality and transsexualism experience a deep internal tear and cannot cope. And we also know that unraveling these problems on the ordinary - psychological plane does not bring any results. Hence the common belief - not entirely true - that neither homosexuality nor transsexualism can be cured - said the priest. Read more via TVN24
